June Reception at House on the Hill

I shot Lisa and Roger's wedding back on May 17th. You can see the blog post about their amazing wedding by clicking here.

They left from their wedding for an extended honeymoon and then had this amazing reception about three weeks later. It was at House on the Hill here in Austin, which is out in the Westlake area.

It was a beautiful afternoon and evening. There was amazing food then everyone went outside to see Lisa and Roger renew their vows. Roger's dad had the honor of presiding over this event. There was a cool gentleman who played the bagpipes through the attendees. Lisa and Roger followed him and everyone got in a line behind them. He led them up to the fountain where they renewed their vows. It was really incredible.

After this, there was lots of music and dancing and drinking well into the evening.

I feel so honored to have been a part of both of these events! Thanks Lisa and Roger!

Happy family!

Absolutely loved getting to know this great family! They were so much fun on this rather humid Austin morning. We started off in their backyard and then moved on to one of the parks in the neighborhood. It was slightly overcast and there was great shade in the park so the light was really nice.
And just as an aside, I met the mom's sister totally randomly the week before I did this shoot! She's a doctor that I visited! And it was pure coincidence that we even got onto a topic that took us to her sister! What a small world!
I am glad to finally get these posted since I took them two months ago! Thanks so much for your patience! Vacation and family in town has really eaten away at my time so proofing took much, much longer than expected!
There are lots more photos to look at in Gallery, so click here to see them!

May 17th wedding in Westlake

Lisa and Roger's wedding was a really emotional event for all involved. It was amazing to be a part of such a special event. I am so sincerely happy that I got to meet them and their families and friends.
Their wedding was a little different than the usual type of event. They had their beautiful wedding and then followed it with a simple champagne reception. The couple left in a Rolls-Royce amid a flurry of bubbles and headed to Europe for an extended honeymoon.
When they returned, they had larger reception and party on a Sunday afternoon. I had the privilege of photographing that as well, and will do another post with photos from that event.
Below are some of my favorites. If you would like to see a Gallery of some of the photos, please click here.
Remember, the Gallery is only a small portion of selected photos.

Here's a favorite of the beautiful bride.

Burnin' love

So this was an extra special shoot for me. The bride was my son's fifth grade teacher! She and her husband went to Las Vegas to get married, and we did these afterwards. We shot these at a gorgeous sanctuary/memorial garden at their church here in Austin.
It was a super hot day, but I think the couple looks awesome!

May 10th Wedding in Buda

There are far too many photos from this wonderful wedding to just post three of them! So here are a few of my favorites.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed taking photos of these two! Katie and Andy were amazing and it was outrageously hot and humid. There was even a while after the ceremony that we were pretty sure a nasty thunderstorm was going to pour down on our heads. But, as all thunderstorms should, it went around us!

The wedding was at Andy's parent's home in Buda and the backyard was just perfect!

I also had the pleasure of having Katie Wilkinson second shoot this wedding with me. She did a fantastic job! She just got out of college and I was thrilled to have her along. She is planning to start her own business outside of Austin and I will put the link up to her site when it's ready! I am, in fact, shooting Katie's wedding in October and am super excited about it!

So, here are a few of my favorites that she took.

It was a really hot Friday afternoon

Laplante 08May_LaPlante_048nc2c+ 08May_LaPlante_119mochasfh 08May_LaPlante_097yokonc2mc I did this session after 6:00 pm on a Friday to catch the late afternoon light. Well, the light was still strong and the heat was unbelievable! Texas summer had begun without much warning.

Luckily, all parties involved were cooperative and happy! These two little ones are just gorgeous and were a treat to photograph. Their expressions and big eyes were priceless! Needless to say, as you can see, mom and dad weren't too bad looking either! I can absolutely see both mom and dad in both these kiddos!

Thanks for bearing the heat with me to get some fantastic shots!

Birthday Girl

_MMP0129mochaizer _MMP0070sc2nc2 _MMP0064mochaizer This is one of my favorite girls in the world! She is funny and smart and has an infectious personality! She has been wanting me to photograph her birthday party since last fall, so when the time came her mom called and booked me!

I had a wonderful time photographing her and her friends!

Bluebonnet Bash

274 81 29 I was hired to shoot photographs in the bluebonnets of a property development company here in Austin called Taylor Morrison. They do this Bluebonnet Bash every year in my neighborhood to attract potential buyers to come out and look at the neighborhood and homes for sale.

I was excited to have this opportunity and spent four hours on a Saturday and four hours on a Sunday taking pictures of all kinds of people in the bluebonnets and wildflowers. As I mentioned in another post, the bluebonnets this year weren't great, so I had to really scout around for a good location to take photos.

I took well over 300 pictures, so these are only a few of my favorites.

Bluebonnet Session

_DSC0011nc2 _DSC0032nc2 _DSC0058sc2 _MMP0071sc2nc2izermcha This was the only family session that I did this season. (Well, that's not quite true. I did an event for a property development company which I will post shortly!)

This family won a session I donated to a silent auction in the fall, so I was very excited when they called to book the session! I didn't realize until we were almost done with the session, that the oldest boy is in my daughter's class at school! He gave me a wonderful grin when he realized that I was a classmate's mom.

All three of these kiddos had gorgeous big eyes and photographed beautifully. We went out for the session in the late afternoon to catch the nice late day sun. Some of my favorite shots were at the end of the session, right before the sun went down.

Four Seasons Austin Wedding

_DSC0028tdw_MMP0127izzer _DSC0016mochasnap I had the pleasure of photographing this amazing couple on their wedding day on the back law of the Four Seasons Austin. The grounds are gorgeous and green and right on Lake Austin. The morning was a bit cool and overcast and it made everything feel a little dreamy.
They had a fabulous brunch and cupcakes rather than a traditional wedding cake and everyone had a fabulous time!

Brown eyed girl

_MMP0105nc3 _MMP0075pretty _MMP0100nc3 This is my great friend's gorgeous brown eyed girl. She is one of three beautiful brown eyed girls, but the only one that I photographed on this particularly rainy day.
We did this at the Domain about mid-morning on a Sunday and the weather was drizzly and gray.
I really like the brick and wrought iron storefront that we used for this shoot. The added texture is fantastic.

Wildflowers and textures

_mmp0043text _mmp0048text Here a few shots I stopped and took of my kids in this big field of wildflowers somewhere between Austin and Houston. It was the middle of a very bright day so the color and shadows were bright and harsh. I decided to play around with these shots a little (since I have so many shots of my kids in bluebonnets). So I toned the colors down with some rusty filters and then added texture to the photos. To see a few more shots, click here.

Graduate

_mmp0039nc3sc3 _mmp0052wrmbwcont _mmp0016nc3 I did a great photo shoot of this young man who is headed to Colorado in the fall! We shot down on 6th street to get the Texas flag background and on Mt. Bonnell as well as down at Lake Austin.  It was a gorgeous day and we split the session. We did half the shoot early in the morning and the other right before sunset.

Sweet sweet girls

_mmp0261xproc3 _mmp0044nc3 _mmp0045nc3 My wonderful friend asked me to capture her two daughters. One turning 6 and the other only mere months old! They are beautiful and sweet, just like their mom.
As always, I had a super time photographing these gorgeous girls!

Super sassy

_mmp0065 _mmp0091 _mmp0042 It's been a while since I was able to convince my own daughter to let me photograph her, but she finally agreed when I told her she could pick the things I would photographer her in.
She grabbed her super cute Limited Too coat, my red poncho with a feather trimmed collar, a super soft blue scarf and gloves and a leopard print headband.
We went outside and had a fantastic time!

Four generations

_mmp0108yoko _mmp0169yoko _mmp0117yoko This was my very, very last shoot of 2007. It was on December 30th! You may recognize a few faces from a session posted a couple posts back. That's because this is the other side of the family!
I had a wonderful time with this family. They had such great personalities and weren't afraid to be themselves for the camera! My favorite kind of shoots!
I had a hard time trying to figure out which 3 shots to post here because there are so many good ones!

More wind than necessary

_dsc0122nc3 _dsc0125yoko _dsc0080warmbw This session was done on December 30, 2007, and it was windy and cold! These guys were such troopers though and we got some great shots.
We were out at one of the pools in the neighborhood and got some fun shots in and around the partially empty pool.
Due to the storm that was coming in and that it was late afternoon near dusk the sky was really incredible and I got some nice shots of the kids with the stormy sky behind them.
I really enjoyed meeting this family. I already knew their daughter through a friend's daughter and the youngest son is in school with my son,  so it was nice not only to meet mom and dad, but the oldest son and a set of grandparents! I love my job!

50 years and still going strong

I had the pleasure and honor of photographing this amazing couple and their family in December. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007. Isn't that just so cool and amazing?
Everyone was in a great and wonderful mood even though it was pretty chilly and outrageously windy.
Thanks so much for letting me help to capture these images for you.

A gorgeous Austin afternoon

_dsc0084nc3 _dsc0057yoko _dsc0130nc3 These two boys are so good looking! I have had a hard time trying to figure out which photos to post here!
I had a really nice time photographing this family and getting to know them a little. These two boys are amazingly well mannered and polite and so very sweet.
And I finally got some blue sky! So I took advantage of the sun as a backlight and even got some nice camera flare.

My last holiday session of 2008!

_dsc0047nc3 _dsc0078nc3 This session was also a very last minute thing. The boys mom got in touch with me and we were able to schedule a time to shoot downtown on 6th street and Waller Creek.
These boys were great! I had so much fun with them! I loved how they are all wearing graphic t-shirts, yet their personalities totally shine through! Each boy is smart, well mannered, creative and unique. I loved doing this session!
